Nkulanawe Community Initiative

Empowering Single Mothers & Youths for a Sustainable Future.

Nkulanawe Initiative is a community-driven organization dedicated to empowering single mothers and youths in Uganda by equipping them with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to break the cycle of poverty. We believe in fostering financial independence, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental stewardship through a combination of entrepreneurship training , vocational skills development, clean energy solutions, and agricultural initiatives

Financial Inclusion & Microloans

We provide interest-free, community-based loans to empower women and youth in starting and growing small businesses. Our peer-support model ensures success through: Group Formation: Members form groups of 5-10 for accountability and mentorship. Financial Literacy & Business Training: Groups undergo one month of training before receiving funds. Seed Funding & Repayment Plan: Loans are repaid in flexible installments, sustaining a revolving fund for continued support.

Solar Pay-It-Forward Model

Many rural families rely on costly and harmful lighting sources such as kerosene lamps. Our solar energy financing model enables women to switch to affordable, clean electricity. No Upfront Cost: Women receive solar systems without immediate payment. Flexible, Interest-Free Repayments: Payments are made in small, manageable installments. Pay-It-Forward: Once a system is fully paid, another family gains access. Impact: Improves children’s education, business productivity, and overall health.

Clean Water for Rural Households

Access to safe drinking water is a challenge for many rural families. Our Clean Water Project provides sustainable home-based water solutions. Household Water Filtration Systems: Removes bacteria and contaminants, making water safe for drinking. Rainwater Harvesting: Helps families collect and store water year-round. Low-Cost Boreholes: Ensures access to clean water in community clusters. Community Training & Hygiene Education: Promotes water conservation and sanitation practices. Impact: Reduces waterborne diseases, improves health, and saves time spent fetching water.

Training & Capacity Building

Training & Capacity Building

Our programs go beyond financial support by equipping individuals with practical skills for long-term success. The attached picture showcases a group of women with our co-founder after completing a three-week intensive training session. These women have gathered to attend a follow-up session, where they will further refine their business and vocational skills. This milestone reflects their dedication to self-improvement and our commitment to ongoing mentorship and guidance.
